New Beer Alert! International Women’s Day

In honour of International Women’s Day 2022, we’ve brewed up a special India Session Ale! This beer was brewed by our female employees alongside our head brewer, during our annual charity brew. We are excited to have used the Yakima Chief Pink Boots hop blend in this beer. The purchase of this hop blend directly supports the Pink Boots Society, an organization created to assist, inspire, and encourage women in the brewing industry.

Every part of this beer was designed in part by our female employees, from what is in the can, to the can design and name.

The name ‘Waves Rise’ comes from the Hymn to Ninkasi, who is the goddess of beer and brewing.  The hymn “dates back to the 18th century B.C.  As legend has it, the hymn links two Sumerian drinking songs that describe the process of making beer and praise Ninkasi for bringing a “blissful mood” and “happy liver” to the Sumerian people.”

“Ninkasi, you are the one who soaks the malt in a jar,
The waves rise, the waves fall.”

At 4.6% ABV and 46 IBU, this brew is light, refreshing, and mildly citrusy, with a floral, herbal and sweet cotton candy aroma.  With a light malt base and moderate bitterness, the hops really shine bright. Available in cans starting Tuesday, March 8th, at the brewery and online for home delivery in the CBRM & HRM, or shipping province-wide. $1 from every can sold will be donated to local women’s charity, the Every Women’s Centre.
